Bulletin prévision - St Brandon

First special weather communique for St-Brandon issued at 10h45 on Thursday 05 February 2026. 

The tropical system which was evolving to the East of Agalega has intensified into a tropical depression.  At 10h00, the tropical depression was centred near 13.6 degrees South in latitude and 61.8 degrees East in longitude and moving towards the South-West at around 12 km/h. 

Available information indicate that the system will be evolving in a favourable environment for intensification while approaching St-Brandon. In the eventuality it intensifies into a moderate tropical storm, it will be named ‘GEZANI’ by the Mauritius Meteorological Services.

 
Weather at St-Brandon is expected to be under the influence of the tropical system as from tomorrow night with moderate heavy showers and thundery at times. 

The wind will strengthen from the Eastern sector as from tomorrow to reach a mean speed of 50 km/h with gusts of the order of 100 km/h, strengthening further on Saturday. 
Sea will become rough to gradually very rough with swells of the order of 4 metres increasing to around 6 metres on Saturday. 

Ventures at sea are not advised as from tomorrow.  

Next special communique will be issued tomorrow at around 10h30.

Premier communiqué spécial pour St Brandon émis à 10h45 ce jeudi 05 février 2026.

Le système tropical évoluant à l'est d'Agaléga s'est intensifié en une dépression tropicale. A 10h00, la dépression tropicale était centrée autour du point 13.6 degrés sud en latitude et 61.8 degrés est en longitude et se déplace vers le sud-ouest à environ 12 km/h. 

Les information actuelles indiquent que le système évoluera dans un environnement favorable pour l'intensification en s'approchant de St-Brandon. Dans l'éventualité qu'elle atteint le stage d'une tempête tropicale modérée, elle sera baptisée 'GEZANI' par les services Météorologiques de Maurice. 

Le temps à St-Brandon sera sous l'influence de ce système tropical à partir demain soir avec des averses modérées à fortes et orageuses par moments. 

Le vent se renforcera par le secteur est à partir de demain pour atteindre une vitesse moyenne de 50 km/h avec des rafales de l'ordre de 100 km/h, se renforçant davantage samedi. 

La mer deviendra forte à graduellement très forte avec des houles de l'ordre de 4 mètres et grossiront à environ 6 mètres samedi. 
Il est conseillé de ne pas s'aventurer en mer à partir de demain.
