Heavy Rain Watch Bulletin for Mauritius issued at 16h30 on Tuesday 03 February 2026, valid till 16h00 tomorrow.

 

Active clouds in the circulation of FYTIA are still evolving in the vicinity of the island and will continue to influence the local weather.

 

Scattered showers are expected mainly to the North, East and over the Central Plateau.
The showers could be moderate to temporarily heavy with thunderstorms.

 

Water accumulations are likely in flood prone areas.

 

Fog patches are expected in some regions.

 

Thus, a heavy rain watch remains in force in Mauritius.

 

The public is advised to:

1. stay in safe places and avoid open areas, hikings, sea ventures and sheltering under trees during thundery showers.

2. avoid places prone to water accumulation.

3. be very cautious on the roads due to reduced visibility resulting from heavy rains and fog patches.

 

The situation is being monitored closely by the Mauritius Meteorological Services.

Des nuages actifs dans la circulation de FYTIA évoluent toujours dans les parages de l'île et continueront à influencer le temps local.

 

Des averses éparses sont attendues principalement au nord, à l'est et sur le plateau central.

Les averses pourraient être modérées à temporairement fortes accompagnées d'orages.

Des accumulations d'eau temporaires sont probables dans les zones inondables.

Des poches de brouillard sont attendues dans certaines régions.

 

Ainsi, une veille de fortes pluies reste en vigueur à Maurice.

 

Il est conseillé au public:

1. de rester à l'abri et d'éviter les plaines, les randonnées, les sorties en mer et de ne pas s'abriter sous les arbres pendant les orages.

2. d'éviter les endroits sujets à des accumulations d'eau.

3. d'être très prudent sur les routes en raison d'une visibilité réduite due à de fortes averses et au brouillard.

 

La situation est suivie de près par les services météorologiques de Maurice.

Weather Outlook for Mauritius and Rodrigues issued at 11h00 on Monday 02 February 2026.
 

1.Synopsis

The Moderate Tropical Storm FYTIA which was evolving to the East of Madagascar has
intensified into a Severe tropical storm during the night. At 10h00 this morning, it was located
around the point 21.4 Degrees South and 52.4 Degrees East at about 530 km to the West-Southwest
of Mauritius. FYTIA is moving at a speed of 15 km/h in a southeasterly direction.
 

2. Weather outlook from Monday 02 to Thursday 05 February

The presence of FYTIA to the Southwest of the Mascarenes will establish a warm and moist
northerly airstream over our region. The temperatures over Mauritius and Rodrigues are expected to
be above the normal and the torrid conditions may persist until Thursday 05. The public is advised
to stay hydrated.

FYTIA is expected to maintain its displacement towards the southeast, causing a moisture
convergence zone in the vicinity of Mauritius as from tonight till Thursday 05. The associated
active clouds may cause scattered showers with thunderstorms.
